Weird Scientology Facts

#15 L. Ron Hubbard

The founder of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard, was a science fiction novelist who turned to writing self-help books for a living. Hubbard was quoted in 1948 saying, “Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion.”

#14 Evil Xenu

Scientology says that 75 million years ago, some intergalactic overlord named Xenu exiled people to Earth to solve a population issue. When the souls of the humans left the bodies, Xenu captured the souls and implanted them with false images of Christ and other historical events that Hubbard claims to have never existed.

#13 Hubbard’s death

Although Scientology opposes the use of psychiatric drugs, L. Ron Hubbard was using Vistaril when he died.

#12 Operation Snow White

Starting in 1973, the church was responsible for “Operation Snow White”, which planted operatives inside the IRS, FBI, Justice Department, and the American Medical Association. These operatives stole and copied thousands of documents that may be used in silencing Church opponents.

#11 I’m on a boat

In the 1960s, Scientology used to be run from a boat — specifically, a ship called the Apollo that carried Hubbard and his followers. His trusted aides were teenage girls who wore a uniform of platforms and hot pants — and Hubbard was “commodore”.

#10 A billion years

Sea Org members are required to sign a billion-year contract dedicating their life to Scientology. They are paid around $50 a week.

#9 No treatment

Sickness is believed to be the fault of the person who is sick, and Sea Org members are not provided health insurance, sick days, or any medicine.

#8 No complaining

Letters that Sea Org members write to their own families are screened for any negativity or messages of unhappiness. The Sea Org reserves the right to ship family members off to work in different areas or countries, and if families complain, they are punished.

#7 FBI investigation

The church has been investigated by the FBI since December 2009, with a focus on “human trafficking” within the Sea Org at the Gold Base in California.

#6 Spy on mommy and daddy

When it’s time to be audited, children are encouraged to spy on their parents and tell the church their findings.

#5 Raising kids

The birth and upbringing of children is strictly controlled; there are strict rules surrounding their upbringing — including diets and no contact with anyone outside of the religion. Good luck to Tom Cruise with that.

#4 Rupert Murdoch

The media mogul has been outspoken on Twitter about his feelings towards Scientology.

#3 Nonbelievers

Scientologists refer to non-Scientologists as “wogs”, which is a copyrighted term.

#2 Leader’s wife

Since 2006, Michele Diane “Shelly” Miscavige, the wife of the church’s leader, has not been seen in public. She reportedly disappeared after she had filled job vacancies without her husband’s permission.

#1 Abuse from the top

David Miscavige, the leader of the Church of Scientology, has been involved in scandals concerning illegal or unethical practices — including beating his aides and humiliating staff members.

10 Most Unbelievable Hybrid Animals.

RE ARE 10 MOST AMAZING HYBRID ANIMALS
1.ZEBROIDS
A zebroid (also zedonk, zorse, zebra mule, and zebrule) is the offspring of any cross between a zebra with female animal from the equidae family.A zorse is the result of crossbreeding a horse and a zebra. A zonkey is the result of crossbreeding a donkey with a zebra. The Zony is the result of crossbreeding a pony to a zebra. All these three are called zebroids.

Unbelievable Accidents That Actually Happened

# 15 Crocodile Crash

Twenty-one people walk into a plane. One guy and a crocodile walk out. Hmm, very suspicious. The lone survivor of this small plane wreck claims that another passenger stashed the crocodile into a sports bag and smuggled it onto the plane. The scaly beast broke free from the bag and chaos ensued. It scared the flight attendant so much that she ran to the front of the plane screaming, which caused the passengers to panic and run up with her. The plane completely lost its balance and fell right out of the sky. Twenty people died, including the pilots. The only survivor made sure to take care of the crocodile with a machete. Trying to keep someone quiet, eh?

# 14 Internal Decapitation

So you accidentally dismount your head, so what? You can always pop it back in, right? Shannon Malloy, was a young mother who managed to get away with this trick. She was internally decapitated after a car crash. Internal Decapitation is what they call it when a person’s head is detached from their body but still attached by skin. Think of it like a tennis ball in a sock. Doctors were able to place her skull back onto her spine. It did take five tries though. What do you expect? Definitely not anesthetic, because she was awake during the procedure and even said she felt her head slipping off. Miraculously, she walked away, probably not right away, but she did walk away alive and without being paralyzed.

# 13 Grenade Gut

Channing Moss’s body took some major heat from a Rocket Propelled Grenade. This former private of the U.S. Army was part of a unit that was attacked in eastern Afghanistan. The RPG hit the left side of his body and even visibly protruded from it. He was lucky enough to not have the shoulder thrown bomb explode while it was inside him. But, you know, he still had a foot-long grenade in his side. And it wasn’t five dollars. That’s probably the worst part. Actually that’s probably the better part, because then he’d be paying five of his own dollars for a grenade in his gut. That’s a total ripoff. Luckily, he was treated with some very fine morphine by some very fine physicians that suited out in helmets and body armor (which were very fine) while removing the warhead. Better luck next time, soldier.

# 12 Man Sliced in Half

Truman Duncan was working as a railroad switchman in June 2006. He fell in the devastating path of two moving freight cars. Although he survived, he was not left in tact. Duncan’s body was severed in half. His pelvis was sliced in two by the wheels. He says he, “ended up falling off and when I did I stood up and the end of the car just hit me in the chest…I grabbed a hold of it and I was hanging on by the knuckle. And I had decided to actually run backwards and kind of just jump out of the way.” He still had the remarkable sense to grab his cell phone and call 911. “I knew all I needed to do was just, you know, wait until help got there and then maybe I’d have a chance.” We call him Truman the Trouper because he waited he a whopping 45 minutes for help to arrive. We can get a pizza delivered faster than that, or it’s free!

# 11 Blinded With Science

A physics researcher was rammed in the head with a proton beam close to the speed of light in 1978. After examining a malfunction in the largest Soviet particle accelerator, Anatoli Burgoski saw something “brighter than a thousand suns”. Despite the incredibly powerful beam of energy that burned through his skull, he felt no pain. This wouldn’t last long. Half of his face swelled up and gradually peeled away. The proton beam had severed through his entire head, including his face and brain. Doctors at the Mayo clinic in Moscow observed him while he waited for near certain death. Amazingly, he survived this without significant brain damage, even earning a Ph.D. afterwards. Still, be careful around those particle accelerators, the ones that you totally have in your house right now.

# 10 All Aboard

This kid needs a vacation from his vacation. After a week in Florida, 10-year-old Luke Bresette found out just what it meant to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The 300 pound board fell and fatally crushed the young boy. His mother and two siblings were also injured. It took six people to lift the information board enough for the emergency medical staff to attend to him. It took another 12 people to lift it up completely. The Birmingham airport has since removed a similar board. The manufacturer of the information board stated, “Well yeah, they fall. But how you gonna find your flights? You just gonna sit there, all lost, and get all fat off Cinnabon? Huh? Huh?” That’s not true, actually. They never said that. They probably thought it, though.

# 9 One Wedding and a Funeral

Some guys get all the luck. Not so for Fabio Marciel. The young groom died on his own wedding day. Sure he was head over heels in love. But no one expected him to be head over heels in blood. The newly married man played happily with a little bridesmaid while toting a beer glass he had stashed in his pant pocket. Why would anyone walk around with a beer glass in their pocket? It was 2am, why else? Why not? Here’s why. The 33-year-old groom tripped and fell, simultaneously puncturing a major artery on the top of his leg. He died of massive blood loss while being rushed to the hospital. Next time, just put the glass down.

# 8 Don’t Break a Leg!

Wrestler Owen Hart made an unbelievably grand entrance into the ring during W.W.F. pay-per-view special, “Over the Edge”. The Blue Blazer was lowered from top of the arena. The stunt had him dangling from 78 feet in the air. Instead of a slow dramatic entrance, Hart fell violently into the ring. As usual, this was due to an equipment malfunction. He suffered internal bleeding due to blunt force trauma. The famous wrestler was 34 years old. Thousands of fans watched The Blue Blazer die on the spot.

# 7 All Jacked Up

In the wrong hands, accidents and Jack Daniel’s seem to go hand in hand. But Mr. Daniel himself was dead sober when he tried to open a locked safe one morning. When the godfather of whiskey could not recall the combination for the lock, he did the only reasonable thing he could do. He kicked it open and broke his toe. He eventually died, but not from blood alcohol poisoning. No, he died of regular old blood poisoning when he contracted a deadly infection through the broken toe. Patience, Jack!

# 6 The Balloon’s Gone Up!

Everybody loves a jumping balloon. That probably changed in 2006 after 30 people took to flight when the bouncy castle broke free from the ground and floated up to the sky. Sounds like every kid’s dream, right? The first 50 feet of upward flight were probably pretty cool. The next 150 feet of traveling across the sky seem like a buzzkill, especialy when the balloon flipped over. An eye witness said, “I heard the snapping of tent pegs and a lot of screaming, then the inflatable flew up into the air and bodies were dropping from it. It was just carnage. There were people everywhere lying on the ground. Some had been on the inflatable when it took off, others were hit on the ground.” Thirteen people were injured. Two died.

# 5 Burn Baby, Burn

A royal ball turned into a royal ball of fire in the year 1393. France’s King Charles VI and his crew decided to have a laugh and show up dressed as “savages”. They adorned themselves with body suits that were soaked in a flammable type of wax called pitch. The idea was to cover the suits with frazzled hemp to give the appearance of being hairy from head to toe, which is what they thought “savages” looked like, we guess. It seems a little overdone, but whatever. In order to achieve this they used a flammable wax called pitch to glue the the faux hair onto the suits. The middvil bouncer used the only light source available at the time to find out who the intruders were. Fire, meet pitch. Poof! The four men went up in flames and died.

# 4 No Hat, No Head

The roller coaster was zooming down the tracks at 50 mph when it tragically decapitated a young man. Sadly, the 17-year-old was a victim of his own indiscretion. The teen and his friend jumped a fence into a restricted area around the ride. They were hoping to quickly retrieve a hat the young man had lost. Instead, the 17-year-old was struck by a passenger’s leg. The blow was enough to fatally injure him. Fortunately there were no other deaths from the incident. We’re pretty sure that somebody hurt their foot, though.

# 3 Severed Feet on Six Flags Ride

A 13-year-old girl’s feet were both severed as a broken cable whipped across her body. The Superman: Tower of Power ride was only 20 feet off the ground when a slew of cables began to snap. The cables had already left Kaitlyn Lasitter and her friends bleeding and injured. Despite their frantic cries to stop the ride, the show went on. They ascended further and further and eventually plummeted their way back down. Kaitlyn turned to her friends and asked them if they were ok, not knowing that both of her feet were missing.

# 2 Javelin, Meet Head.

It’s the 2012 Olympics in London. What could go wrong? Apparently, the javelin was not meant to be thrown into the head of a Japanese girl. The 19-year-old athlete that was inadvertently responsible for the traumatic blow did his best to warn this unfortunate teen. Safety regulations require a warning call before a throw (fore!). The poor dude did his duty. The poor girl needed to clean out her ears. Fortunately the 15-year-old unnamed girl survived. Unbelievable!

# 1 Beer Flood

You don’t need fancy technology to cause an unbelievable accident. In 1814 a vat of beer exploded in a London brewery. It’s sad when any beer goes to waste. It’s especially sad when 4.4 million pints of beer go to waste. Even worse, the massive flood of beer trapped two young men under the rubble of a dissolved pub destroyed two homes. Saddest of all, eight people were drowned by the sea of beer simply because they happened to be in their basements at the time. Talk about binge drinking!

Thousand Year Old World’s Largest Cashew Tree- Maior Cajueiro do Mundo.

In 1994, the Guinness Book of Records set aside a separate column for the world’s largest cashew tree called Maior Cajueiro do Mondo located in Natal, Brazil. The gigantic tree has grown from an amalgamation of two genetic tissues. Such tissues allow the branches of the tree to grow outwards rather than upwards. Gradually, hence, the branches tend to stoop towards the ground and eventually make for a root. This new root further grows into a new tree.
The massive tree occupies 80,000 square feet of land or roughly five acres. It is guessed to be around thousand years old. One can easily climb a tower to view this tree from a vantage point or for that matter, even climb up through the roots.
You can heartily go and pay a visit to this enormous work of nature. However, beware of the orange caterpillars. These gorgeous looking insects are poisonous. They swamp over the tree seasonally and are a size of a finger.
The beauty of this tree is that it produces 60,000 pieces of cashew fruit each year. As for some people it may come as a surprise that a cashew nut is not the fruit but a single nut is attached only to the bottom of the fruit!

Animal Eyes: Extreme Close-Ups!

You’ve never seen your favorite animals like this before! Close-ups of animal eyes are so cool.!! The cow’s eye will blow your mind. >>

#15 Llama

We know what you’re thinking, what on earth is that?! It might look like a very foreign or strange planet, but that is actually a close-up of a llama’s eye!
The wavy patterns are called “iridic granules” and they act as horizontal filters. These filters limit glare and reduce eye strain in bright light – Kind of like a built-in pair of sunglasses! These iridic granules also tighten and close over the pupil to limit the amount of light received while still focusing.
Llamas, interestingly enough, have three eyelids, as well as other more common features of the eye such as a cornea, a sclera, an iris and pupil, a lens, a retina and an optic disk. Llamas have an oval-shaped pupil, like some other animal species, and due to their small head sizes, their eyes have a tendency to look quite large.

#14 Caiman

Caimans are very similar to alligators, and the both species share similarly-looking pupils! They are a smaller breed than most crocodiles and alligators, and are commonly found in Central and South America. Some species of Caiman are also found in southern Florida.
Caimans have long, thick, tapering tails and elongated snouts. Judging by this photograph, they also have very unique pupils. You may notice the zig-zag markings on they eye, as well as the typically greenish-yellow coloring. Caiman eyes have a layer called tapetum behind their retina, containing crystals that reflect light and make night vision possible.
Did you know that the caiman eye at night not only produces an ‘eyeshine’ but it’s also iridescent, which means the color changes with the angle of the light source? Neither did we! Guess that’s what makes the animal kingdom a never-ending surprise…

#13 Siberian Husky

The eyes of a Siberian Husky are ice-blue, dark blue, amber, or brown. In some individual dogs, one eye may be brown and the other blue, or pupils may even be a combination of both. Husky’s have almond-shaped eyes, and they are known for having the most beautiful eyes of all the different species of dogs.
The Siberian Husky originated in north-eastern Siberia, and this is why the species has such a thick coat of fur. Huskies were originally sent to Canada and Alaska as working dogs, however they soon began to be chosen as popular domestic pets because of their gentle, but resilient nature. We think looking into this pupil is like looking into a cracked frozen lake. Absolutely brilliant coloring!

#12 Chimpanzee

You might think you know a lot about everyone’s favorite monkey, but just take a look at those Chimpanzee eyes – They’re magical! The two chimpanzee species are the closest living relatives to humans, and this is why their pupils look so similar to our own!
Chimpanzees certainly are clever, and they can even walk upright on two legs when carrying objects with their hands and arms. Chimpanzees have also learnt how to make tools and use them to collect food. The species use vocalizations, hand gestures, and facial expressions to interact with one another, and even so much as a glimpse with those astonishing eyes of theirs can communicate a whole message to other members of their group.
Although the pupil of a chimpanzee is quite similar to those of a human, you may notice the coloring to be slightly different than our usual brown, blue, grey and green.

#11 Albino Tiger Python

Did you know that the Albino Tiger Python is the world’s longest reptile species? They can grow up to around seven meters long – Yikes! This species is found predominantly in Southeast Asia.
As you can see, their pupil has an unusual marbled pattern and is very circular in shape. Although their light coloring may seem like a disadvantage, it actually works well to help them fit into their natural jungle environment. If you’re a little faint-hearted when it comes to snakes, then perhaps it’s best you don’t read the next bit! Albino Tiger Pythons have been known to cause quite a few human deaths. Although some accounts have not been proven, it is believed that this species of snake has swallowed human beings whole – Crazy!

#10 Stingray

Stingrays are found in tropical and subtropical marine waters throughout the world. There are eight different families of stingray, and they are categorized depending on their appearance and habitat.
Stingrays often hide from predators among the sand, and one of the reasons they can do this is because of their flat shape. Stingrays cannot actually see their prey, and this is because their eyes are located on top of their body, and their mouth is located on the underside of their body. This means stingrays must use other senses, such as smell and electroreceptors to locate their food.
An interesting fact about stingrays is that the females are able to store sperm and not give birth until they decide the timing is right. Looking at this close-up photograph of a stingray’s pupil, it reminds us of the eyes of other marine life such as fish.

#9 Lark

A Lark is a small- to medium-sized bird, commonly found in parts of Australia and in some parts of North America. They often live in drier habitats, and unlike most birds, they build their nests close to, or on the ground. Larks are even recognized as pets in China!
The birds are even taught to mimic the voice of other birds and animals. Looking at this close-up of their pupil, you will notice that they have quite a fierce-looking eye. We wouldn’t want to get on a Lark’s bad side!
The Lark might have a dull brown appearance, however this serves to camouflage them well from their predators.

#8 Iguana

The Iguana is a species of lizard native to tropical areas of Mexico, Central America, Fiji, Tonga and islands in the Caribbean. Did you know that Iguanas have a third eye? Not to be confused with an eyeball of course, but the species’ ‘third eye’ is known as the parietal eye, and it is visible as a pale scale on the top of the head.
The Iguana might have a pretty scary-looking eye, but they also have fantastic vision. Iguanas can see shapes, shadows, colors, and movement clearly even at long distances. They are able to use their excellent vision to make their way through crowded forests in search of hard-to-find food.
Iguanas also use eye signals to communicate with other Iguanas – Impressive, right? Another interesting fact about the Iguana is that their eardrum is located directly behind the eye.

#7 Horse

Looking at the close-up of a horse’s pupil kind of reminds us of looking at a strange planet with a lake in the middle of it….Horses do have rather beautiful eyes though, and did you know that the equine eye is the largest of any land mammal? Neither did we!
The iris of a horse is usually dark brown in color, however it can also be a variety of colors, including blue, hazel, amber, and green. Horses are lateral-eyed, meaning their eyes are positioned on the sides of their heads. This allows them to see a range of vision of more than 350°. Horses are not color blind, but they do have dichromatic vision. This means that similarly to red-green color blindness in humans, red and related colors appear more like green.
A visual difference between horses and humans is that horses are less able to adjust to sudden changes of light than humans are, such as when moving from a bright day into a dark sheltered area.

#6 Guinea Pig

We hate to say it – Guinea pigs might be cute, but they certainly do have one freaky eyeball! Did you know that baby guinea pigs open their eyes in their mother’s womb 14 days before birth?
Despite their name, guinea pigs are not part of the pig family, nor are they from Guinea. This species makes a great pet, especially because of their gentle nature and the fact that they are quite easy to care for.
An unusual fact about this animal is that when in the wild, they behave very much like cows. Before you scratch your head in confusion, let us explain! Wild guinea pigs live in small groups and move together in herds. They eat grass and other vegetation, and are unable to store food like some other wild animals. Wild guinea pigs also tend to be most active during the darker hours, and this is because it is during the night that they are harder to spot by predators.

#5 Fish

Yikes! If you look at this fish’s eye from the side, it almost looks like some sort of space dome. Fish eyes are actually quite similar to the eyes of birds and mammals, however fish eyes have more of a spherical lens.
Most fish have colored vision, and some can even see ultraviolet or polarized light. A major difference between the eyes of fish and the eyes of humans is that fish normally adjust focus by moving the lens closer to or further from the retina. Imagine if us humans had our very own built-in zooming lens!
A fish’s eyes will adjust to their environment. For example, if a fish dwells on the ocean floor, its eyes will have adjusted to the darker environment. Most fish species seem to have a fixed pupil size, which means that unlike humans and a lot of other animals, it doesn’t adjust to light changes throughout the day.

#4 Cow

There are a number of differences between a cow’s eyes and a human’s eye, and this is evident from looking at this picture! Who knew a cow’s eye could be so freaky close-up?
Cows eyes are actually oval-shaped, and humans’ eyes are circular. A similarity between cow eyes and human eyes is that both have an optic nerve which connects to the brain allowing us to see. Did you know that cows have to move their head up and down and from side to side in order to see in these directions? This is because, unlike human eyes, cows only have four muscles which operate within their eyes.
Humans, on the other hand, have six of these muscles, allowing us to move our eyeball around in its socket in order to see in a range of directions.

#3 British Shorthair Cat

Did you know that the British Shorthair is the most popular breed of domestic cat? Their eyes are large, round, widely set, and can be a variety of colors, but the copper or gold eyes of the breed are the best known.
British Shorthairs are usually indoor-only pets, and they have a very friendly demeaner. They are also well-known for their round and chubby faces, as well as their beautiful and silky fur. British Shorthairs became very popular around the world with the emergence of the “I Can Has Cheezburger?” cat – The most famous British Shorthair of all!
Cats’ eyes have a tapetum lucidum, which is a reflective layer behind the retina that sends light that passes through the retina back into the eye. Cats can see some colors, and can even tell the difference between red, blue and yellow lights, as well as between red and green lights. So next time you hear that cats are color blind, this isn’t the case! Did you know that cats are able to distinguish between blues and violets better than between colors near the red end of the spectrum? Fascinating, right!

#2 Blue-Yellow Macaw Parrot

Also known as the Blue-and-Gold Macaw, the Blue-Yellow Macaw Parrot is commonly found in forests and woodlands in South America. The beautiful bird is well-known for its colorful blue top parts and vibrant yellow under parts. You may have also noticed these parrots are stocked in some pet stores, and this is because of their amazing colorings, as well as their ability to talk and to bond with humans.
This species is also well-known for its loud shrieks and mischievous behavior. When the parrot is born, it will have very dark eyes. As the parrot matures, however, its eyes will gradually begin to turn lighter yellow or grey over time. Judging from the eye shown here, it is evident that the parrot was of mature age.

#1 Blue Crayfish

The blue crayfish is a blue colored morph of the common brown papershell crayfish. It is the lack of a gene that causes them to be blue. The eye of the blue crayfish seems to protrude outward from its head, like most crustaceans.
We could not help but notice the fly-appearance of this species’ eye! It could even be mistaken for a microphone when it has been magnified at this rate!
This unusual underwater animal is commonly found in parts of Florida. Due to the species’ bright blue color, they find it harder to camouflage, and therefore cannot hide or protect themselves from predators. Blue crayfish can also be kept as pets, and you will commonly find them in aquariums. The species can grow to be as large as 15cm in length.
